The Sony XDCam EX family provides beautiful images in a fully digital, solid state platform. The EX1 is a tapeless high definition camera capable of 1080p, 1080i and 720p recording, NTSC and PAL. The EX family of cameras all record to memory cards, essentially a highly sophisticated computer with a lens. The use of cumbersome tape as a medium is gone.
Tape?
Many producers and clients still like the concept of tape, mainly since it’s a familiar workflow. 
With the memory cards, there is no digitizing to do. No more transferring hours of video in real time to your non-linear editing systems. That’s just wasted time.

Travel light
The client leaves the shoot with a portable hard drive containing all the audio and video as files, as well as a copy of the software for viewing and logging on the plane trip back. A short USB cable connects all the material to your laptop or NLE system.

You can supply your own hard drive, formatted for FAT32, or one will be provided. The hard drive can be used and re-used. Also, a backup of your files will be created and saved 30 days.
